PixInsight 1.8 - E3DDY Full Version In this article, we will guide you through the steps of setting up PixInsight on your computer. In addition to guiding you through installation of PixInsight, we also provide some basic information about what you can do with PixInsight and how to set it up for an intended use. Finally, we have a more advanced tutorial that covers what is possible with the newest version of PixInsight: E3DDY. PixInsight is a complete tool for preprocessing, image processing and advanced image analysis of scientific quality images produced by instruments such as CCD cameras, electron microscopes, optical telescopes or spectrographs. Its development started more than 10 years ago on the initiative of Wim van der Ham (doctor in astrophysics) with the aim to provide an open-source platform for astronomical image processing. It started with the intention to replace the widely used IRAF (Image Reduction and Analysis Facility) software that had some limitations due to it being developed back in 1983 for the NASA Hubble Space Telescope. PixInsight has since then grown into a powerful platform that can be used by anyone who wants to do astronomical image processing on professional level. PixInsight is developed and maintained by the Dutch organisation Scientific Computing and Display Facility (SCDF) together with its scientific partner University of Groningen. The development of PixInsight is funded by NASA as part of the Advanced Visualization Laboratory (AVL). There are two variants of PixInsight: E3DDY that has been developed since March 2013, and the existing version that has been available since 2002. PixInsight 1.8 - E3DDY Full Version includes MCOS II which adds multi-camera features to the existing core functionality. It is the culmination of the E3AO effort, an effort to create a completely new version of PixInsight that has been in progress for five years. The name E3DDY is merely an abbreviation for Expert 3D Data You can see that three major components are part of E3DDY: The 3D Viewer (E3DC), the Image Processing Pipeline (E3DP) and E3AO. PixInsight 1.8 - E3DDY Full Version will be the base in which future development will take place. It is therefore fully supported by SCDF in terms of documentation and support through our members mailing-list. E3DDY is also provided for free for everyone. If you like to download PixInsight 1.8 - E3DDY Full Version, you can do so at the following address: http://pixinsight.com/downloads.html PixInsight has a strong focus on data processing, since the majority of users process their own images taken by CCD cameras or telescope instruments. This makes PixInsight quite different from many other software packages that focus on image display and visualization only. Due to the strong data focus, PixInsight provides a very rich set of tools for processing astronomical data. eccc085e13
